This essay is from the Borzoi Action Gazette, Vol 3 No. 3 Oct, 1970 and is by Jean Lau - owner of Zorba and breeder of my foundation bitch, Aurora, (Valyet's Zolotaya Zaria) a Zorba daughter.

It has been said that our children teach us many things. The same is true of Zorba. He came to our home at three months of age to fill the void left by the dissappearance of our 10-month old Borzoi bitch. Accepting calmly the attentions of a year-old baby boy, learning his house manners rapidly, Zorba began his task of teaching us about his breed. Shortly after his first birthday, Zorba received his first points toward his Pacific Coursing Championship [an open field title]. He has done well at matches, this year in May at Westlake Kennel Club's match going Best of Breed, Adult and second in the Adult Hound Group under Dr. Musladin. At GOlden Gate Kennel Club's summer show on July 5th, 1970 under Mrs Charles Cline, he received his first two points as Winners Dog and Best of Opposite Sex. Combining our family's vacation with dog shows, we took Zorba on the 1970 Cal-Ore [California-Oregon] Circuit, where he won a 5-point major on September 7th under Mr Joseph Carson wh placed him Winners Dog and Best of Winners.

Whenever he's first let out our front door, Zorba runs to the back of our wagon, hoping he's on his way to either another show or to the fields. He really loves to get out there and show off! Although he doesn't smile (grin) as do the other two Borzoi we've since added to our family, Zorba talks to us all the time to let us know he's ready to go. Zorba, our golden boy, we love him and thank him for all that he has brought into our lives, the love and knowledge of that wonderful, strong and elegant breed, the Borzoi.
